Dear readers,
I am trying to make a japanese rock garden outside of my condominiums front door. there is a space about 8 feet wide and 20 feet long and that is the space I want to put the garden in. I was wondering if moss requires alot of water to grow, or if any, because I am not allowed to have water in that space. I was wondering if it required any water if I could spray it with water from a spray bottle or something. I also would appreciate if anybody can tell me some good stores to buy high quality sand, any low water required plants, moss, etc. anything for a rock garden. Please respond, and Thank You.

Moss requires water to grow. Most plants require more water than what you can get out of a “spray bottle”. You should go to your local library and check out a landscape book on Rock Gardens. It will give you lots of ideas. What types of plants to buy also depends on where you live, how much sun/shade the area gets each day and what type of soil you have. You can also do a rock garden with NO plants at all.Good Luck.

The Japanese garden is a microcosm of nature. Rocks represent mountains, shaped sand beds represent the ocean, small specimens represent large, minimalism is better than too much. Provide bench for meditation.
